About us
Careers counselling in senior school education is still somewhat thin according to many parents and education professionals. For young adults, the biggest hurdles often seem to be deciding which career path to take and how to access career path resources.
AccPro is a project designed to assist young people with guidance and knowledge to aid their decision making and assist with the administrative and preparatory aspects such as CV design and interview preparation. Additionally, AccPro will assist young adults in exploring and gaining access to careers within the legal industry.
Outside of the legal community, not much is known about the different career paths one can explore. It is often assumed that developing a career in law requires large investments and many years in education. While that may be the case in some areas, there are many routes and organisations that can assist financially and academically. In addition, there are the roles behind those that are more commonly known, such as solicitors and barristers, that many are unaware of.
Within the legal industry, there are a host of lucrative career opportunities, some of which do not require higher-level qualifications. Unfortunately, many of these roles have historically found themselves distributed within a very small audience.
We all have different personal circumstances, resources and networks, and many do not have the luxury of the advantages each of those brings in opening opportunities.
The legal industry has historical diversity issues, being largely underrepresented in many areas of society including women, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and those from different socio-economical backgrounds. Within particular areas of the industry, this largely stems from entry level whereby the audience who have sight and knowledge of job opportunities rarely extends beyond the existing community.
AccPro's goal is to open up career opportunities within the legal arena to a wider audience and bring about fair opportunities for those who ordinarily would struggle to find them. From barristers to barristers' clerks, solicitors and even IT support, we aim to share career opportunities to a more extended audience and those at entry level.
In doing so, legal firms and companies who support the legal industry can widen their pool of potential talent.
Furthermore, AccPro will provide insights, training and mentoring for young adults to give them the tools to consider the industry as a viable option, make informed decisions, and confidently compete for roles within the legal environment.
Whilst our expertise and networks are stronger within the legal industry, we are not limited to this area. The career insights, advice and counselling offered by AccPro, and those associated with it, will provide useful knowledge and guidance to assist young adults in all their career endeavours.
